Now … you may be asking yourself “what’s different about the veg at Greens’s of Minster?” … well, let me offer you these 3 great reasons:

-1- OUR FRUIT & VEG IS LOCAL

Over 75 of our items are local throughout the year. In our case this means within only 6 miles of the shop! Much of our local produce comes from our 2 main farms in Plucks Gutter and Sandwich Bay.

But … why is this worth shouting about?

Well ..

Firstly, it reduces carbon footprint. Produce is only transported a few miles rather than across the whole country or even from abroad! Secondly, it keeps money in the local economy. This is good for all of us. Thirdly, our local produce is traceable. We know where our local produce comes from and who grows it. Fourthly, our local produce is very often fresher. As an example our Asparagus comes from Minster. Very often it is on our shelves within a couple of hours of being harvested. The very same asparagus is supplied to the supermarkets and takes 4 days to appear on their shelves! And we sell ours cheaper!

-2- OUR FRUIT& VEG IS CHEMICAL FREE

Our local produce is chemical free. No chemical fertilizers, pest killers (pesticides), weed killers (herbicides), hormones, or drugs. Our local farms utilize biological farming where a pests natural enemies are introduced to the crops. Nice and natural and the way nature intended.
